Nina LoVe

Nina has been surrounded by music from a young age, growing up in Frome and Trowbridge with parents who have both been professional musicians. As well as being a mum of three, Nina is a fully-qualified teacher with a Master’s degree in Sound Art, and an active DJ. As DJ Nina LoVe she has several regular radio shows and has countless live gigs under her belt, sharing the bill with legendary names such as Judge Jules, Seb Fontaine and Dave Pearce.

 

Nina runs our DJ workshops and lessons, and focuses on our provision for under-16s, as well as supporting community engagement, communications and day-to-day management.

Tom Bazeley

Tom founded Purple Noise in 2012. Born in Bath, he grew up in Somerset and West Wiltshire. Classically trained (Birmingham University and Conservatoire), Tom has a love of (nearly) all kinds of music, based on wide-ranging experience as a multi-instrumentalist playing with symphony orchestras, gigging and recording on the London and Birmingham club and band scenes, at festivals all over Europe, and as a producer, composer and teacher.

Tom runs the business side of Purple Noise and teaches rock & pop keyboards and brass, music theory, composition and music production/technology
 

Jo Hyde

Jo (josephhyde.co.uk) is a composer, multimedia artist and researcher based in Frome . His work crosses boundaries between electronic and acoustic sound, video, installation and dance, with solo and collaborative works shown, heard and performed around the world, including at the 2012 Cultural Olympiad and the World Science Festival in NYC. Jo is Emeritus Professor of Creative Music Technology at Bath Spa University and has helped thousands of students and professionals. Many - including two BAFTA winners - have forged successful careers in music, sound, and other creative and technical fields.

Jo helps develop Purple Noise's learning content, and teaches sound design/production and multimedia composition, especially to advanced and adult learners.

John is a hugely experienced live sound engineer and tour manager, who has worked with a plethora of major artists including St Etienne, Shed 7, Beth Orton, and Paloma Faith. He is much in demand both in the UK and across the world, and is currently working with BRIT award winner and Oscar nominee Celeste.

 

John has given technical support and steering for Purple Noise from the outset, and provides training and mentoring in live sound engineering and event, stage and tour management.

John "Mac" McCormack

​

Best known for his work as Invisible System, Dan is a highly respected producer, musician and ethnomusicologist, who has worked with many of Mali and Ethiopia’s finest musicians and singers. Through Invisible System, Dan has had several nominations for Album of the Year in the Songlines world music awards, and he also runs his own record label (Harper Diabate Recordings).

 

Dan also has extensive experience in youth work, and currently specialises in mentoring and music tutoring for young people with special educational needs.
